Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has reacted to comments made by Zambia captain Christopher Katongo after the latter said on Sunday that Bafana are under pressure to win the Nelson Mandela Challenge clash on Wednesday.
Bafana clash against Chipolopolo at FNB Stadium and Katongo feels Bafana players have a lot to prove to Igesund prior to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and therefore, the Zambians, with a settled team, are in no way under pressure to win the encounter.
Igesund reacts: "Well, there is no pressure on Bafana to win a friendly match… The pressure is on Bafana to get to the semi-finals and win the Africa Cup of Nations.
"We are doing the preparation right now, so there is no pressure on the players. They have to go out there and perform. They are professionals and they will do their job, that's the bottom line," Igesund contends.
Nonetheless, Igesund insists Bafana will go for a win.
"Yes we want to win and do well and I think we will. We are in a better situation now than we were on our trip to Poland and Kenya. We will be getting better all the time. Chris Katongo can't say we are under pressure to win the game," Igesund adds.
