SA-based keepers vie for Warriors’ top spot

SA-based keepers vie for Warriors’ top spot

BidVest Wits new signing Energy Murambadoro is in line for an intriguing battle with Platinum Stars goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini for the number one jersey in the Zimbabwe national team after both keepers were called up to the Warriors.

The Warriors are due to meet Guinea in Conakry next week in a 2010 Africa Cup\World Cup qualifier next and, as usual, the squad is dominated by players plying their trade in the South African Premiership.

While Murambadoro has just recently signed with Wits, he has played relatively little football in the past two years for CAPS United.

Kapini has also seen limited game time at Stars, being regularly restricted to the bench – a situation that has ignited the expectations of a fierce battle between the two experienced keepers.

Strangely though Maritzburg United goalkeeper Domonic Sithole has been ignored despite having had a fantastic season during which he led his club to the top of the First Division Coastal Stream.

Why Sithole has been ignored for a call up remains a mystery.

Veteran striker Peter Ndlovu who has shown patches of form at Mamelodi Sundowns has again been ignored by Brazilian coach Valinhos.

The Warriors’ squad is:

Goalkeepers: Tapuwa Kapini (Platinum Stars), Washington Arubi (Highlanders, Zimbabwe), Energy Murambadoro (CAPS United).

Defenders: Onisimo Bhasera (Kaizer Chiefs), Zvenyika Makonese (Santos), Obert Moyo (TUKS), James Matola (Free State Stars), Harlington Shereni (FC Nantes, France), David Kutyauripo (CAPS United, Zimbabwe), Gilbert Banda (Highlanders, Zimbabwe), Sam Mutenheri (Dynamos, Zimbabwe), Zhainu Jambo (Gunners, Zimbabwe).

Midfielders: Esrom Nyandoro (Mamelodi Sundowns), Tinashe Nengomasha (Kaizer Chiefs), Honour Gombami, Vusa Nyoni (both Cercle Brugge, Belgium), Cephas Chimedza (Sint Truiden, Belgium), Clemence Matawu (Motor Action, Zimbabwe), Justice Majabvi (Dynamos, Zimbabwe).

Strikers: Gilbert Mushangazhike (Orlando Pirates), Benjani Mwaruwari (Manchester City, England), Takesure Chinyama (Legia Warsaw, Poland), Joseph Ngwenya (SK Austria, Austria), Mike Temwanjira (FC Vaslui, Romania), Quincy Antipas (MAS FES, Morocco), Musa Mguni (Omonia, Cyprus).

Hehehe… wangena uProff
Let me congratulate my team YOUNG STARS first – great game boys last night!

Zimbabwe should be among the top countries in football with most of their players playing in AFRICAN’S RICHEST TOURNAMENT – ABSA PREMIER LEAGUE! It’s about 30 000 players playing in the PSL. Why are they always failing to make the top tournaments? SAFA should now allow 3 forena players in a team with substitutes! Then our league will improve!

NEXT SEASON IT WILL BE AMAKHOSI season!
League champs – chiefs
Top8 Champs – amakhosi
Nedbank Cup champs – amakhosi
Vodacom Cup champs – chiefs
Telkom Cup champs – chiefs
Telkom Charity Cup – we shall give this 1 to Pirates or Sundowns (hehehe)

Or other breakin’ news are that Makhanya might move to NATURENA as well!
Ayeye Bhakabhaka ayeye next season!

2moro final
Mpumalanga black aces – 4
Mamelodi Sundowns – Iqada

BULALA MPUMALANGA BLACK ACES BULALA!

Professor(correct spelling by the way)
Sometimes I wonder which part of your anatomy is responsible for your thoughts. Zimbabwean football has suffered as a result of too many of our talented players earning a living in your league instead of improving their perfomances. The PSL is undeniably rewarding materially but not good for personal development. For instance Dynamos are playing much better football than any of your Top 8 teams.
