Match commissioner Mark Lindon instructed the referee Jerome Damon to call off the game at the scheduled starting time (4.30pm), after the officials received reports that FC AK flew from Johannesburg to East London at lunch time, instead of Port Elizabeth.
"They were informed by the PSL on Thursday that the Rovers home game had been moved to Port Elizabeth and they had enough time to change their flight tickets," Lindon says.
"The match was supposed to be started but they called and told us they were on the bus en-route to Port Elizabeth – they were still miles away from where we were."
Lindon says the PSL disciplinary committee will decide on what sanctions should be taken against FC AK after the referee and the defaulting team had submitted their reports.
