The selling of tickets for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations is now progressing smoothly after the LOC managed to deal with the confusion and uncertainties experienced last month by some fans while trying to purchase their tickets.
When the ticket sale began on September 26, there was an outcry from a number of supporters who could either not locate any Spar outlet to purchase their tickets, or were frustrated by the ticket machines, which were consistently offline.
However, Safa vice-president Mandla ‘Shoes’ Mazibuko tells KickOff.com that the LOC had since managed to resolve these challenges.
“Initially, there was a problem when the Afcon tickets were put on sale. In part, the challenges had to do with a lack of understanding and communication between the ticket selling centres and the LOC.
“The problems have now been resolved and to date, I can safely say that the selling of the tickets is on track,” Mazibuko says.
“I am not in a position to say exactly how many Afcon tickets have been bought, but I would like to remind football supporters of the 20 per cent discount that is on offer for those who purchase their tickets before November 24.”
Matches for the 2013 edition of the continental football tournament will be played at Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit and Rustenburg between January 19 and February 10.
