Igesund: Bafana injuries a big concern

Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says injuries have caused him to make changes

Posted: 2 October 2012 Time: 05:54 am

Gordon Igesund says the injury of key players has forced him to make some adjustments to the Bafana Bafana squad to play against Poland and Kenya this month.

South Africa will play Poland on October 12 and Kenya four days later in internatinal friendlies, as Igesund's preparations for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations shift into top gear.

Igesund – who will name his squad today – says the absence of the likes of Siboniso Gaxa, Thulani Serero and Morgan Gould because of injury is a major blow to the Bafana technical team.

"The injuries are a concern to me," Igesund tells KickOff.com.

"Serero, Morgan Gould and Siboniso Gaxa are likely to be on the sidelines for a longer period because they have serious injuries.

"Others such as Teko [Modise] and Reneilwe Letsholonyane also have niggling injuries so they are out of the picture for now.

"It is tricky but these are some of the things that you have deal with as a coach," Igesund says.

The coach is also worried that more players might be injured this weekend in League action.

"The squad will be announced today and we have a full programme of League fixtures this weekend. This means more players may be injured before our first match against Poland."

Why does the coach says the injury to Gaxa is a corncen for starters Gaxa came to fill the gap in the team the last time he was ther as Teko he was not there again last time Bafana played so lets not even mention these two players in this set up rather we can talk of all the others that were there initially and what to do next I think we have lots of talent in the PSL and some of the players abroad can do the job for the nation, for me to do is simple I surpport the team.

hey wena you've started with the excuses already. this are good players but i think we have players who are more than capable of replacing these guys
The bigger loss i think is that of serero bt pienaar is there so its not a train smash.
anyway what abt ngcongca? he is injured as well isnt he?

Don't worry Mr Coach about Gaxa even if he was fit he was supposed to make a way for Matlaba, forget about Gould he will never be fit again he will only use injection to play just only for a cson den he retire as for Mathoho we dn't want to see him again at Bafana just average rather bring Mashamaite.

Let us make simple GI. Stop Nyawana at all, Pause Yuyu and rewind Hlokoloza and play Parker.

Bafana has a big pool of players to chose from? U might as well take the opportunity to look @ players that you did not look @ last time. Tsutsulupa/ Oupa Manyisa/ Andile Jali/ David Mathebula etc

U need to try almost everyone baba, cause if injuries were to come by. Half of the squad U had against Brazil won't be there for the Nations Cup

Gordon Igesund: Bafana Bafana is not Moroka Swallows: replace all the injured players and besides some players can be re-selected and otherwise: just shut up and name the Bafana Bafana for those games: Or you are telling us that wena you are a rigid squad for the country: I'm starting to loose hope on this expired coach:

No no no... Gordon, did I hear u mention Teko?? were u planning to select him?!

Regardless of his form, that boy is definitely not favoured by his ancestors(even he admitted that he has his own demons to deal with when downs signed him), hence all the turmoil at Izikhotane Fundowns right now,it was the same 1 plaguing the Marikana 'Spinal-Massacre' gorillas!
He left SSU, they won 3 consecutive league titles...
He left Broke-back Gorillas fc & they won back to back trophies...
As soon as he leaves Downs... U will see what I mean...
So until that boy consults his ancestors or a witchdoctor for cleansing, we don't want his bad omen near the national team!!

Those who think I'm wrong must show me the counter facts, to prove it... ;-)

The Game (Downs for Lyfe): Gordon are you free or dom?...Teko was not our your previous selection so why coming up with his name: This is just irrelevant and I'm failing to find out what is his point here uGordon Igesund: So now the players you are going to select have to know that you only selected them cos they are injured players, how convinient and sane is that Mr. Coach: what you are doing is gonna have your team split into groups....prevention is better than cure Mr. Coach, this is the national pride: Think before you open your mouth, don't get carried away by that position,,,,even the best coach from Brazil was once on that seat: since most of the south africans have faith on you, wena just do what you are employed then thina and the media can talk about the selections and the injured players:

If you select players based on form then CHIEFS, AMatuks and SWAI-SWAI players should dominate the selections. No Tuckshop player deserves to be in the starting 11 even the soo-called 3points Masenamela, you better bring Madala Legothwane.

Team:

................Khune.....................
Ngcongca...Matoho...Mashamaite.....Legothwane

..........Mahlangu....YEYE....Maluleka....Shabba.
......................Chabangu.....................
..................................Parker..............

& Besides... U're still trying out formations & seeing how players adapt to your style of play...so will it not be best to also try out more players, to see how they'll also do when given a chance?!

Maybe now, u may call up those off-form midgets... Jali- Manyisa for Yeye & Serero, but also include Pienaar to play in the hole where Magic feet Serero would be...if he refuses then, we can have a look at Nespray look alike: Myeni, even though his still finding his feet a bit, one can see the boy has a lot of potential in the no 9 position& maybe having a great Coach like u, to also guide him, will bring out more of his abilities...

We need to rope in the youngsters more, so they can gel with each other, instead of calling up the likes of Bhele&Benni...who won't be around to help us in 2014; as much their experience would be of great benefit, its hampering the usage of players like Rantie!

Ghana took a chance in the last world cup & went out with their youngest ever squad of all the participating teams & only a handball from that dirty Uruguayan, Suarez; prevented them from reaching the semis!!
We keep crying about continuity in our national set up, yet we don't embrace it fully when it presents itself.

Judging by the perfomance of those two midget Gorillas on Sunday.

Mr. G. I...those dwarf primates do not deserve a Bafana call-up, I'd rather have Mongezi Bobe or recall Dumisa Ngobe there..

Except for Sangweni and Matlaba....no other Rat desrves a Bafana call-up

This is a man fabricating his own obituary - this is a dead man walking. He lacks the ambition to transform a team.

i wat to know - what are the expectations in the AFCON 2013 and is qualifying for Brasil his mandate.
