Orlando Pirates striker Benni McCarthy is hoping to bounce back from injury sooner than expected.

The striker tore his hamstring in Bafana Bafana's international friendly against Brazil in Sao Paulo on September 7. McCarthy lasted just 10 minutes before pulling up following a tussle with David Luiz, and was on crutches after the game.

According to the club's medical team McCarthy will be out of action for around five weeks.

In a chat to the club website today McCarthy says, "I still feel a bit of pain but it's getting better by the day.

"Sitting out for six weeks is a long time, especially for a guy like me, who enjoys being on the field. Fortunately I've already started rehabilitation which will obviously speed up my recovery process.

"I hope to recover a lot sooner than what the doctors say but only time will tell," he adds.

Pirates are struggling upfront without McCarthy having only scored once in their last five games.

These are the fruits of not training regularly cos you are friends with the coach(Uncle Pally)...

When G.I. introduced these intensive training methods guys like Sangweni and the Matlabas were chatting and smiling cos they were used to them.

With De Sa in...I see Benni being chased by a baseball for a mere ten sit-ups???

Psl must consider viewing the tape of the Hail pitch invasion. If u look carefully ther were Gorillas too. So rats should be charged also

Shame I wonder just how big he'll be when he returns. I feel sorry for the stuff at McDonalds coz Mccarthy is busy ordering Big Macs always.
