De Sa will choose technical team

Roger de Sa will start off his new job at Orlando Pirates able to choose the technical team

Roger de Sa will start off his new job at Orlando Pirates aware that he will have the power to influence the composure of his technical team, this according to the Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza.

With his appointment forced by the health condition of his predecessor Augusto Palacios and coming with the season already in motion De Sa takes over the volatile seat with the added muscle to make changes on the bench.

"If ever there are extra requirements that he needs in the technical team like an assistant coach or whatever we will accommodate him because we want him to work with people that he is comfortable with," says Khoza.

De Sa arrives at Pirates with his former team-mate at the then Wits University Tebogo Moloi serving as first assistant with Siphiwe Ngwenya as the other assistant after being seconded by Palacios.

The Brazilian duo of goalkeeper coach Alexandre Bezzerra Revoredo and respected fitness trainer Japhet Borges – both of whom De Sa will be at home conversing with in Portuguese – make up the rest of the technical team.

"We haven’t really decided on anything yet because it is important that we first get to see what we have first. We will not rush into things and like the chairman has said if there is need to then we will look into it," says De Sa when asked about the technical team.

Coaches the world over have been known to work with support staff that they are comfortable working with to avoid back stabbing and clash of personalities and coaching styles.

Good decision by Dr Khoza to let the guy choose his own technical team. He can recruit brilliant minds who will bring fresh ideas, especially someone who will help us offensively. We need to play attacking football and Tebza Moloi couldn't help Augusto, so he must also be demoted to the youth ranks. We have good players. We need technical staff who know how to use the country's best talent. The improvement of Pirates will be beneficial for the national team too. The whole country must be behind the Buccaneers if they want to see the South Africa national team go forward. The truth and nothing but the truth. Amen.

Does it really matter what position you played in order to labelled a good coach? Some have never really kicked a ball in a professional level but today they are doing well as soccer coaches.

Awu Dr Spepepe madoda. I think the chairman can't handle the pressure anymore he comes drunk now to press conferences.

I see this strategy by the Orlando Pierats chairman and i love it very much. As long as we retain the #1 spot until the end of the season.

First it was Mhlongo with unlicensed fire arm.........Now it is De Sa with a Baseball Bat in his car.
If you don't include that on your CV i bet you wont be taken seriously at Pierats.

What about your chuck noris? how many trophies did he won wherever he came from? Who are you to say Pitates deserve a better coach? Since when do you wish Pirates can be better than your Chips? I think you are jealous for a young local dynamic coach of De Sa calibre. You are actually forseeing Pep Quardiola in De Sa and this won't make you any happy at all. Worry much about your chuck noris and wake up to the reality that De Sa is our coach not chips coach. I see you have fake pirates fans critizing our Chairman decision with you. What they don't know is that the Chairman is a good decision maker, for the country and for the strongest club in South Africa.

A chef isnt judged by the final product when the ingredients are different. The material (quality of players/ ingredients) that De Sa worked with at both wits & santos are nowhere near whats at Pirates. Leal struggled with amazulu , won one cup at swallows while ending the season outside top8 bracket, but won two cups in just 6months at Pirates, something that took the so called special one 3 seasons to achieve at chips.....Let me reiterate that "a chef isnt judged by the final product when the ingredients are different".
