Former Orlando Pirates head coach Augusto Palacios has warmly welcomed the appointment of Roger de Sa as new coach.

De Sa was appointed as Pirates coach after Palacios was relieved his duties in what club chairman Irvin Khoza said was due to 'health reasons'.

Palacios thanked the chairman for giving him the chance to lead a big team like Orlando Pirates.

"I want to state that it was only voluntarily that I stepped down as Pirates coach. I recently had an operation that would have taken three to four weeks to heal," Palacios tells KickOff.com.

"I want to thank the chairman for the great opportunity he gave me to coach the senior team and the cooperation received from the players while head coach at Pirates.

"I am very proud of the success with the players especially winning the League Championship last season.

"I am happy with the appointment of Roger de Sa. I know him as a disciplined coach and I believe has got what it takes to be successful at Pirates. I wish Roger all the best at Pirates," he adds.

For the record,Motsepe and Khoza never played footballl,I'm not suprised abt the manner in wich they do football matters,,,,'khosi4life' till Khoza appoint Screamer as a coach,,,since he is Khoza's lapdog

Kaizer played football and went ahead to hire a fraudster who never played football to be a manager of a football team as if that was not enough he went ahead to hire a CV cooker as a coach. Bheka indaba zakho nxx!!!!

Palacios...what a puppet.....17yrs with Pirates but still been treated like a used condom......a real man would never subject himself to such treatment......Palacios is needy and weak.....if he was my father i would respect him......liar...we dont buy the operation story.......this man needs to go back to South America.

@senwabarana, FOR YOUR INFO, Dr Irvin Khoza DID PLAY FOOTBALL for a team in Alex b4 he was recruited 2 OPFC by China Masondo!

If Pirates is such a big football institution why has Tebogo Moloi who has been with them for as long we can remember not been given an oppotunity to lead the team as a head coach at least once.........what is ut that Roger knows that Moloi does not know about football and Pirates.....whats the point of being an assistant coach kanti?

Dont worry Phepheni, Palacious has a home and is part of a family of the home of soccer, the DTC. He wil always do us a great job and we are happy with him. Wena mama Josta and that Fraudster u Poppy need your support.

3 coaches in 2 seasons?? This is actually a shame on us. When are we going to have a coach like Fergie?
I can only agree that Njenje was a wrong appointment anyway. The General who develop the soldier and the
one doing the fighting cannot be the same man. I hope Roger's girl will not mess Pirates now.
