It is with great sadness that we have learned about the passing of one of the country’s best-ever sport commentators, Oom Dan Setshedi, who died on Saturday at the age of 80.
Oom Dan’s career started in Radio Bantu in the 1960’s before he moved to the SABC sports department in the 70s and became one of the golden voices of football on TV in 1986, a year after the formation of the National Soccer League.
Alongside Zama ‘Zet-Zet’ Masondo, Thabiso Parkies and Dumile Mateza, Oom Dan was one of the best commentators who would keep viewers glued to their TV sets from the first to the final whistle.
Robala ka kgotso Oom Dan.
