Ike drills Enyeama

Super Eagles deputy skipper Vincent Enyeama drilled by Ike Shorunmi

Posted: 6 September 2012 Time: 10:12 pm

Super Eagles deputy skipper Vincent Enyeama, who arrived camp on Wednesday was subjected to special drilling by national team's goalies' trainer, Ike Shorunmi, even as it was clear from his output that Enyeama is in the best frame of form.

"It's just routine and we know his form and we are sure he will be ready for the game against Liberia if needed," Ike said.

Enyeama played at the weekend and assured after the over two hours training at the National Stadium in Abuja, that he was happy for the one day extra granted him by head coach Stephen Keshi and he will reward that with excellent performance if fielded on Saturday.

The national team is scheduled to leave Abuja on Friday morning aboard a chartered flight and will arrive in Monrovia two hours later. The squad is to be consisted of 22 players and officials of the team who will be joined by NFF officials and those of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club led by Rauf Oladipo.

Here, they go again! Travelling on friday when the crucial match will be playing on saturday. What an incompetence NFA! While other serious African countries playing away matches travel at least 3 days before their games, our nff with blunt brain, just as they did when Ethiopians hosted Eagles, puts our boys on a journey just a day before the match. When will Nigeria administrators do the right thing? The only right thing the NFF knows doing best is calling for the coach head when the players, may be due to stress of such journey, failed to live up to expectation.

Naija always full of critism, d coach gave his reasons for making d trip on friday and not days before. Don't just speak or judge, follow events and happening before talking someone down. All we need is victory, no story, let d coach have what he thinks is best for his team and let him deliver. All we need is result, shi kai na!

There's no reason sane enough to justify traveling on Friday for a a crucial match which will be played on Saturday, national soccer players should arrive at least two days before the away encounter to get acclimatized . Nigeria can't just change, fire-brigade approach every time. Anyway good-luck to Super Eagles.

@maygood. Keshi may be the coach but he will not be the one running in the field for 90 minutes.
I wonder if you will be travelling across a time zone of 1 hour for a very tasking appointment and travel just the day before.
That is what we are criticising keshi for. These guys need to acclimatise and need minimum 2 days.
NFF should have been able to pay and camp them in a 5 star hotel in Monrovia.
Anyway, I wish super eagles the best.
If they draw or lose, please nobody should blame any player.
