Zimbabweans say their keeper is best

The 15 year-old Makotore from Meingwane High School in Matebeleland South, comes to this tournament with huge pedigree after keeping four clean sheets in as many games during the national finals in Victoria Falls.

The soft-spoken youngster, who looks up to Kaizer Chiefs shot stopper Itumeleng Khune, said he hopes to do well in the tournament and catch the attention of the scouts who will be attending the games from Monday.

"I like Khune because he is brave, a good distributor of the ball and good handling technique. It shows that he works hard to be able to master all those important functions of his trade.

"I am happy to be here and I am going to try my best to help my team do well and hopefully I will keep a few clean sheets and we will return home with the trophy," he said.

Though he is taking most of the plaudits, Makotore gave credit to the defenders in front of him whom he said where solid during the national play-offs back home where he kept clean sheets.

Mucheka warned that people must not be fooled by his quietness as he is outspoken on the pitch.

"Off the field I don't talk much but on the field I scream a lot at my defenders when they don't follow my instructions," said the goalkeeper.

As a youngster, Makotere said he drews a lot of support from his family who have been supporting him all these years.

Mucheka added that they young goal minder is an important part of their team and they are expecting a lot from him.

"He keep things to himself most of the times but we will be relying heavily on him in this tournament. I have confidence that he has the qualities of making it all the way to the top because of his good work ethic and determination," the team manager said.
