Teko Modise reacts in disappointment after missing a chance against Maritzburg

Fans: We want Pitso

Mamelodi Sundowns fans threaten Johan Neeskens after loss to Maritzburg United

Posted: 2 September 2012 Time: 09:14 pm

Mamelodi Sundowns face charges of spectator misbehaviour after fans went on a rampage and threatened to storm the club's dressing-room after their loss to Maritzburg United.

The supporters were attempting to force coach Johan Neeskens to hand in his resignation.

Sundowns were beaten 2-1 by Maritzburg, their second defeat in the Premiership this season.

The Brazilians' fans are known for attempting to force club management to fire coaches, and it was no different at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.

Irate fans clashed with security personel as they tried to push down gates on the way to the dressing-room, and members of the SAPS were called in to beef up security at the stadium.

The fans were shouting "Neeskens must go" and chanting ex-Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane's name, saying that he must come and save the sinking ship at Chloorkop.

Supporters carried placards reading: "We are tired of Neeskens' promises, Pitso must rescue Sundowns."

Sundowns PRO Kabelo Mosito said he was not in a position to comment about the incident.

Mosimane has also been linked with move to Orlando Pirates, who have not scored in four matches under Augusto Palacios.

Supporter's in South Africa in general are simply too fickle. A couple of results don't go your way so you want the coach sacked? It does take time to build a competitive side, you know...

Rotating coaches will not solve the problem @ Sundowns. The problem is not the coach. The problem is with the management. Some will argue that the coach has been with the club for long now and should produce results. Me begs to differ. The coach may have been there for some time yes, but the management keeps on giving the coach new players (& in big numbers). Each time they here Chiefs and/or Pirates are targeting a player they rush there and sign that player and pay him big money (thats forcing the coach to play the players he never would have used).

Me thinks Sundowns' "OPERATION ROTATE COACHES" and Pirates' "OPERATION ROTATE GOALKEEPERS, LEFT-BACKS & FAT-ONES UPFRONT" is as bad as our (Chiefs) "OPERATION BUY ONE GET TWO FREE" which threatened to send us to play offs or even to National First Division.

Chanting can not help sundowns or dismissing coach for Pitso can't help sundowns because Pitso and present coach are the same interms of coaching skills. They only use first thought and they don't have second one. It is better if they need Hunt, Kompela, Batler or Doleza maybe they can help
