While Igesund was quick to praise the 21-year-old for his ‘fine form’ for Feyenoord this season, the truth is he has yet to play a single minute in any of their six matches so far.
Mokotjo has sat on the bench for two of those games, but has otherwise been left in the stands by Koeman, or in this instance left over a 1000 kilometres away while the team faces a crucial battle for a place in the group stages of the competition.
Mokotjo did see action for the side in the early part of pre-season, even wearing the captain’s armband in one game, but his last start in a competitive fixture came back in April.
