There are certainly a lot more players who have joined the 'wrong' team in the current transfer window, let alone in the past. I wish, though, that Masalesa's representatives would have dissuaded him from joining Pirates.
Don't get me wrong; Pirates is a great team, but Masalesa is a future Bafana Bafana player and, at 20, he is better off playing regular football and I don't think Pirates can offer him a starting berth at this stage.
By virtue of being a defensive midfielder, he will be up against Andile Jali, Onyekachi Okonkwo, Thandani Ntshumayelo and Manti Moholo in Bucs' defensive midfield role. So, realistically, what are his chances of being a regular? Did 'Vieira', or his agent, think about that before he signed? Did they check the list of players he will compete with?
I seriously doubt they did their homework.
So let's say he joined Kaizer Chiefs, just for argument's sake. They are also a big team, but their defensive midfield is not bloated.
He would have been a direct replacement for Tinashe Nengomasha and, sooner or later, he could have filled the void left by Nengomasha. In essence, he would stand a better chance of playing at Chiefs than at Pirates.
But now the likelihood is that he will make up the numbers at Pirates.
Masalesa's transfer is not an isolated incident, though, as there are other players who have joined badly chosen teams recently, and many in the past.
Wayne Arendse springs to mind. He signed for five years with Mamelodi Sundowns – a team with four more central defenders: Siyanda Xulu, Method Mwanjale, Clayton Daniels and Alje Schut.
He may not even see the end of his contract, because down the line he won't be satisfied merely to take his fat cheque home, he will demand some game-time, often indirectly through the media.
It is high time agents put their player's interest first when they move their players and players, too, must not just be content with the prestige of playing, make that sitting on the bench, for big teams.

1 , 2, 3.....lets go
You are a good prospect is SA soccer, you have done well so far and you deserve all the good things coming your way,and the best with your new team.
But can you please explain the logic behind your move to Orlando Pirates, could be influenced by the following?
1. They are current champions?
2. They offered you a better deal?
3. External influences by your agent or Mr Legodi?
4. Your former teammates (Phungwayo & Myeni) influence?
I dont know, as much as i would have liked you to dawn the Gold & Black jersey i feel that you have taken a step back in your career. You have chosen a team that is packed with players who are around you age and they are much established than you in the position you play. it is no secret that OP recently signed Aubrey Ngoma who was touted the next Andile Jali, but without kicking a ball even in training session he was loaned back to Tuks. It's clear that you aquisition was not about the contribution you will make to the team, but it was about the hype that was created around you and the value there off. I see you heading to Sundowns in a year ot two to come since Kaizer Chiefs doesnt entertain the "jumble-sale shenanigans" of players.
It will be with heartache to see a talent like you being loaned to Golden Arrows and then discarded afterwards. A lesson should have been taken from the likes of Clifford Ngobeni & Papi Zothwane.
Good-luck with your current financial status, but it is with deepest regret to say R.I.P to your football career.
Kind Regards
I see you are one of the bitter Zebra fans...
You said the same thing about Jali when he came to Galaxy
Manqele as well
You guys can go hang yourselves with a spider web, this boy is a Buccaneer now so deal with it

Since Andile Jali is no longer going to join Germany team next to Garankuwa ,after robots ,opposite SPAR Supermarket .......the chances of Viera playing regulr are very slim.
However I hope its gonna create a healthy competition.
Tiyani wa ka Mabasa, so u have concluded that Viera cannot compete at this level. The fact that he stand out in the entire under 20 role, means the boy is up to task.
You have also ignored the structural change factor, Pirates could use 3 defensive minded players at once, a system they have used in Kroll's time eg Chansa,Jali,ACE with Ngobeni coming as a sub.
Best teams in the world have great players competing in the same role.
was it necessary to show us that u r one of the Zebra's? its a pity cos u can't do anything about his decision. This boy want to win and he had to associate himself with the champs...

Mr Augusto "El-Kampion" Palcious, can you please please please for once not be an animal and not use your MOTETE and use your brains . Please Sir.
I don't think this guy was gona walk striaght into the KCFC starting line-up judging by Baxter's team selection, he was going to be on the bench together with Salt & Vinegar plus Sheriff until Yeye gets suspension or gets injured. But dont get me wrong he is a good player though, i wont ask what he has achieved with Wits or about his failed overseas move just like our noisy Gorillas who questions every player who is signed by other teams except theirs
