Defending champions Heartland FC have given themselves a chance to defend their title after defeating hitherto giant killing Prime FC by 3-0 in a penalty shoot-out, to ensure their qualification for a second consecutive appearance in the Federation Cup Final.
The game ended goalless after regulation time and in the ensuing penalty, Prime FC who until this game had enjoyed a fairytale run, lost all their spot kicks, to put themselves out of contention for the title.
In the battle of the Premier League heavyweights, Lobi Stars made it to the Federation Cup final after defeating their northern rivals Kano Pillars by 5-4 on penalties, after both teams failed to score during regulation time.
Heartland and Lobi Stars have thus made it to the Final of this years' Federation Cup which is scheduled to take place in Lagos on August 26.
The losing semi-finalists, Prime FC and Kano Pillars will have to settle for a consolatory third-place berth.
