Hard-fought win for Celtic

Bloemfontein Celtic took the spoils in a hard-fought Premiership clash, beating Platinum Stars 2-1 at Free State Stadium on Wednesday.
It is a first win in three for Celtic this season, and came much to the relief of coach Clinton Larsen. The result also ended a run of three straight losses for Dikwena.
The goals were scored by new signing Siyabonga Nontshinga and Lennox Bacela, one in each half, while Stars netted through veteran midfielder Benson Mhlongo, his second in two games.
The game was just five minutes old when the home side took the lead, Nontshinga netting his first in a Phunya Sele Sele shirt since arriving from Jomo Cosmos. The strike owed much to the fine work of Joel Mogorosi down the right wing, with his cross perfect for Nontshinga to convert.
And the action-packed start to the game continued as Stars equalised through Mhlongo. Patrick Tignyemb could only half-clear a cross with a punch and the ball fell to the former Bafana Bafana international, who rifled the shot into the back of the net.
Visiting goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane made a good save from Lyle Lakay, who had connected with a corner, and then produced an even better effort to tip Mogorosi's shot around the post.
The game fizzled out towards the end, Stars putting the home side under pressure with their possession, but never able to really test Patrick Tignyemb in the Celtic goal.
