Two goals in six minutes were enough to hand Kaizer Chiefs a 2-1 win against Mamelodi Sundowns at Soccer City on Wednesday night.
The Brazilians had thumped Chiefs 4-1 in the MTN8 earlier in the month, but Amakhosi bounced back in style for their second successive win in the League.
Chiefs were missing Morgan Gould, who ruptured his Achilles tendon a day before the game.
But his replacement, Tefu Mashamaite, came close to an early goal with a long-range shot that Wayne Sandilands saved.
In the ninth minute, Teko Modise played a one-two on the edge of the area and got in a decent shot, but Itumeleng Khune saved well.
And two minutes later Siyabonga Nkosi pulled the ball back to Kingston Nkhatha, who was in a very good position to shoot with Sandilands out of position, but the Sundowns defence just got back in time to get a block in.
Sundowns' best chance of the half came in the 16th minute when Modise let rip with a long-range effort, but Khune did really well to save it.
Elias Pelembe came very close in the 50th minute when he hit the upright with an attempt at the near post but, just two minutes later, Nkosi opened the scoring with a superb effort. He charged into the area and struck a low shot across goal and into the bottom corner.
Six minutes later Nkosi headed Siphiwe Tshabalala's deep corner back across goal for Nkhatha to nod home from close range.
Sundowns pulled one back in the 61st minute; Clayton Daniels' powerful drive rebounding off Khune and into the back of the net.
There were a few opportunities for either side to score more goals inside the final 15 minutes, but some excellent defending kept the scoreline at 2-1 to Chiefs.
