Another Nigerian moves to beleaguered English club Portsmouth

Pompey fans, who just bade an acrimonious farewell to Nwankwo Kanu, have seen him being replaced at the League One club by yet another Nigerian, Jordan Obita.

The England-born Nigerian winger was signed on loan from Premier League side Reading FC in order to aid his development, as he is not assured of  regular playing time in Brian McDermott's team.

Jordan could make his debut for Portsmouth in their League Cup tie against Colchester United if he is considered for selection by Pompey manager Michael Appleton.

The 19-year-old, who was nominated for Football League Championship Player of the Year last season, has represented England and junior international level, but is, however, eligible to play for Nigeria through his father.

The youngster will be hoping to make an impression at the club were Nigerians like Yakubu Aiyegbeni, John Utaka and Kanu Nwankwo excelled, with the latter attaining legendary status among the Pompey faithful.
