Sangweni targets Swallows to increase his goal tally

Mamelodi Sundowns Thamsanqa Sangweni targets Moroka Swallows in MTN8 to increase his goal tally

Posted: 17 August 2012 Time: 10:49 am

Thamsanqa Sangweni is looking forward to continuing his good form when Mamelodi Sundowns take on Moroka Swallows in the MTN8 semi-final at Lucas Moripe Stadium tomorrow.

Sangweni has two goals in two games for the Brazilians this season: scoring on debut in Downs' 4-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8, and handing his team a 1-0 win over Chippa United with a great free-kick in their League opener.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born midfielder has won the hearts of Sundowns fans with a great display in the middle of the park, which many say will spell doom for opposition teams this season.

"There is always pressure when you play well, because supporters will then expect more from your performance," Sangweni says. "But I am ready to handle the pressure.

"So far I am enjoying myself at Sundowns and I'm grateful for the support that I have received from my teammates."

Sundowns have had a perfect start to the season, and Sangweni says its going to be business as usual when they host the Dube Birds in Tshwane on Saturday.

"Everything is going according to our plans," he says. "We are ready to continue from where we left off when we play Swallows.

"I want to urge our supporters to come in big numbers to support us again on Saturday as their voices from the stands will inspire us to victory ..."

You need a win tomorrow or else pressure will be worse on Wednesday. Some players on yellow cards will be safed for next Saturday. Just pray it rains heavily on Wednesday since your best will be draw. You need a cup more than three points.

Thami surprised I must admit. I've been following this guy's soccer at amazulu & u23 and he's been brilliant. When he opted to join Downs, I said to myself there's one great talent going down the drain (for reasons we all know!)but he fitted perfectly in the line up, benching Moriri. I just wish he will continue to play, we need young blood lyk him to if we have any hope of seeing Bafana competeing again on the world stage. Good luck Ntwana, but don't forget there's only one INSIMBI in the Psl.
