Okpako has now been pushed to train with the club's 'scrapyard' that has Simba Sithole and Sibusiso Khumalo amongst others as he contemplates a way out of the club.
The 22 year-old still has a year remaining on his contract with Sundowns but coach Johan Neeskens says he is not in his plans for the new season just like a few other players.
"Unfortunately they are not in my plans and I hope they will be able to find clubs because I think they deserve it and hopefully they can find something and show their qualities. They don't fit in my plans and I don't want to keep players who I know I will not use in any way as that is not good for them or the team," says Neeskens.
Mohammed Lawal, Okpako's agent confirms that they are still in the hunt for the central midfielder.
"There is no club for him as yet but he still has a contract with them despite not being in the plans of the coach which is normal. We are busy looking for an option for him and have up to the end of the month to get a club for him.
"Obviously not being in the plans he now trains separately but I am sure we will be able to get a club either locally or international as he has previously played in Greece," says Lawal.
