Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Manqoba Ngwenya has been let go, but they have welcomed back Sandile Gumede and Mandla Tsengwa, along with Vusi Mthimkulu who comes in on loan from Orlando Pirates.
Last season Thanda fell at the play-offs stage for the second year running and have recalled Professor Ngubane, who has decided to retain just seven players from last season in his squad of 29 for this season.
Retained are Peter Wadabwa, Asanda Mvalo, Nkosinathi Mthiyane, Mpakamelo Ntibane, Jerry Nxubane and Diamond Thopola.
The list of established arrivals has Tsengwa, Gumede and Chris Manoka – all of whom are returning to the club – Jimmy Zakazaka, Sifiso Hlanti and Chris Komani.
“We have chosen to go with mostly local boys from around KZN but our motive is still to win promotion after the disappointment of coming stuck in the play-offs in the last two years,” says Thabani Gumede, the Thanda team manager.
Thanda have also released Nigerian striker Peter Mwadike to FC Cape Town.
