Mashaba goes Awol at Stars

Free State Stars player Mzikayise Mashaba goes Awol

Posted: 13 August 2012 Time: 07:01 am

Free State Stars player Mzikayise Mashaba went Awol ahead of the club’s opening League match against Bidvest Wits.

Ea Lla Koto won the match 2-0, but it was the absence of the South African international that got most people talking.

Mashaba was last seen after Stars’ 2-1 MTN8 defeat against SuperSport United a week ago.

Stars general manager Rantsi Mokoena confirms that the player did not report for duty on Monday and added that he never got a call from him explaining why he had not showed up.

A source close to Mashaba reveals that the player’s head might have been turned by an approach from Wits for his services.

“Wits approached Stars for the player, but management turned them down,” the source reveals.

Mokoena confirms it is true that Wits wanted Mashaba, but they were not prepared to lose any more players.

I hope he has a good reason why he hasnt pitched but not informing your employers about your whereabouts is inexcuseable unless he got an accident and and he cant talk.

On that note,Congrats to my neighbours as is not often that they win and when they do they celebrate for years.

A frame of the log needs to be done though because they won be there for long

Lets hear the other side of the story before we can pass judgement. He has no record of going AWOL, so i will give him a chance to explain himself.

Mzi is a disciplined player, let's wait and see. I think he's better than Lebese and he could have threatened Shabba's place in the starting 11. If Wits sign this boy, it would be good acquisition. But Habbas better bench Mbazo and Rambo must take his place if they want to stop leaking goals.
