South African midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo was an unused substitute for Feyenoord Rotterdam as they went down 1-0 to Dynamo Kiev in the Uefa Champions League qualifiers last night.

But another African, Nigeria international Brown Ideye, got the winning goal to send his side Dynamo Kiev into the next stage of the Champions League.

The Ukrainian giants won 1-0 at Feyenoord and move into the playoffs 3-1 on aggregate.

Mokotjo, meanwhile, was back in the Feyenoord squad after missing the first leg in Kiev through an ankle injury. He has now recovered fully.

This was the first time that Feyenoord had qualified for the European Champions League in 10 years.

Unfortunately for Mokotjo, he will have to turn his attention to the start of the Dutch League as he aims to show new Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund that he has the quality and experience to be selected for his country once more.
