Star players to miss League opener

Some key players will miss the opening round of the South African Premiership campaign

Some key players will miss the opening round of the South African Premiership campaign due to the yellow cards they picked up at the end of the 2011/12 season.

The likes of Sibusiso Zuma, Dillon Sheppard, Letladi Madubanya and Mongezi Bobe will be suspended when their teams run out to play the first matches of the new season this weekend.

Zuma will miss Matsatsantsa's trip to Ajax Cape Town on August 10 while Sheppard will miss Golden Arrows' trip to Orlando Pirates, also on the opening night.

Black Leopards skipper Bobe would have lined up against hard-running Madubanya in the Leopards-Bloemfontein Celtic clash on Augsut 11, but both influential stars are out of contention for their sides.

Leopards will also be without suspended centre back Humphrey Khoza while Maritzburg United will miss Rheece Evans and Platinum Stars will be minus Henrico Botes.

But this is poor reporting. A suspension due to yellow cards is just one game. Now players like Zuma (SSU) and Madubanya (Celtic) have already missed the MTN 8 quarterfinal games and are therefore eligible to play for their respective teams this coming weekend. Not unless if there are new rules in place...

@Mgugudi:ThetrebleAdict,
Why don't you comment about the story. Do u really enjoy seeing your player injuring another player dude? Come on idiot!! The same player you r boasting about, did you see how he turns the field into a bull fight if he comes to contact with an opponent, or if his team mate is injured? Is that what you call a player? Other than that I like him for banging them in even if it's against my team. But plz guyz 4get about 4rcing him to BB. That one's up 4 him. Otherwise bravo champ!

@Nespray is a movie star,
Are you asking that the spirit of fair play and descipline be compromised. But I have a better idea on this yellows and reds thing; why don't you suggest to SAFA/PSL that a player with a yellow or red only carries it into the competition he/she was involved in at the time of the offence like in europe?
