Bolt serious about Man United trial

Usain Bolt keen on trial with Manchester United

Sprinting icon Usain Bolt insists that he is serious about wanting a trial with Manchester United.

The 25-year-old Jamaican, the fastest man in history, dashed into sporting legend on Sunday by defending his Olympic 100 metres title at London in a Games record of 9.63 seconds.

But as a passionate Red Devils fan who has met up with the team and manager Sir Alex Ferguson before, he is hoping that his running glory might prompt his dream career change.

“People think I am joking, but if Alex Ferguson called me up and said: ‘OK, let’s do this, come and have a trial’, it would be impossible for me to say no,” Bolt told The Sun.

“I would not take up the challenge if I didn't think I was good enough. I am a very accomplished player and know I could make a difference. I would be the fastest player in the team, but I can play as well.

“I am in Britain for a few more days,” added the gold medallist, who will seek to retain his 200m crown in Thursday’s final. “If Alex Ferguson wants to give me a call he knows where I am.”

A spokesman for the Premier League club amusingly observed to the paper: “As the fastest man on Earth he would undoubtedly add speed to the team."

Bolt has expressed his desire to play football before, declaring in 2011: “I definitely want to see what I could do. I think I could step up to the [Wayne] Rooneys.”

Well Bolt, if Sir Alex doesn't call you, you can safely come to Orlando Pirates in South Africa, they have one Sekgolela who came in the very route you want............speed and nothing else.

Somebody please inform Usain that in football, speed does absolutely nothing, especially in the absence of the football skill, as is the case with our own "God must be Crazy" Sekgolela.

Am not too sure if the toothless one can/does read KO, 'coz then Usain is soon to be unveiled as a pie-speed player then. His statement on the media conference : "When we heard that Bolt was available, we immediately realized that we need someone to assist Tlou and run to the sapotas (with no ball in his feet), as Tlou have been doing alone all these years.

I love how Man U position their brand, this has nothing to do with Bolt playing soccer, its a strategic brand positioning and market penetration.

No wonder they are the biggest, richest and most successful in the world.

this guy can realy do it, mybe even better than most of the strikers tht we have in the pls and the in past, includind abo longthong who only depende on thier head, the likes of ndlela, niang and others, i bet this guy can score more goals than some1 called paker, majoro, kaizer and nqobo combined, he better come to south africa he can bring hell to the double towers, and we can show him tht we have our own sprinter who might be better than him, the likes of sokgolela, matlaba, cheeseboy and even henyekane.

Sox is warming the bench at Pierats, and he also cost us the AFCON, and thanks to the clueless pitso who confused his speed with football brains... where was his speed when Al Hadary proved that even if you can get to the ball ahead of others, it is what you do with the ball that matters...thus what makes you think you wont be warming the grandstand at Old trafford if that fantasy of yours were to be realised?

Honestly, stick to your God-given sprinting talent as you still another four or eight years on your side to keep doing what you do best...in football, every player knows that you could easily outrun them & believe me they'll plan against you & give you an injury knowing that you'd have to sit out matches....so mfanakithi I ever-so wish that you're joking............"To be a Buccaneer is a CALLING"
