Vote for your Ballantine's Player of the Month!

Posted: 6 August 2012 Time: 02:16 pm

KickOff.com and Ballantine's have chosen the top three players for this month – now it's up to you to vote for the winner.

1. Lerato Chabangu
Man-of-the-Match Chabangu gave AmaZulu a hard time in Swallows' 2-0 MTN8 win. He showed composure to side-foot the ball home for the first goal, connecting with a pin-point pass from Lefa Tsutsulupa, and in the second half sent in a brilliant cross for Siyabong Nomvete to score the second.

2. Teko Modise
'The General' created three goals in Sundowns MTN8 quarter-final win over Chiefs and was Man of the Match. His passing was accurate and, in fact, if the strikers had utilised every ball he put through to them they could have scored more; sometimes they got a good pass from him and relaxed in possession, allowing Chiefs' defence to regroup, especially in the second half.

3. Patrick Tignyemb
Made a number of great saves for Celtic in the MTN8 quarter-final against Pirates. In the first half Ndumiso Mabena shot from just outside the box and he was well-positioned to make the save. It didn't end there, as from the save the ball fell to Daine Klate who headed goalwards and, although it was a weak header, Tignyemb was in a good position to make the save, despite the fact that he had just saved the initial shot a couple of seconds earlier. He reacted quickest, which was lucky, as his defenders were caught napping.

SMS your name and the name of this month’s finest player to 32215 and you could stand a chance to win two bottles of Ballantine's Finest blended scotch whisky. SMSes cost R1.50.

Buy a bottle of Ballantine's Finest Scotch Whisky at participating liquor outlets between September 1 and November 31, 2012, and you could win a trip for two to watch Manchester United play Liverpool at Old Trafford on January 12, 2013. Information on pack.

Is this player of the month or player of the week. The games were played on the first week of August and as far as I understand we still have gallore of matches coming up this month, then why chose players over one game?

For which month? Cant you wait until atleast the end of August if not begining of September? There is only one game played and you want us to vote fpr your player of the month for one game? Maybe you wanted to say player of the week.

This is both premature and stupid. These three players have played a single official match which is not sufficient to judge a player of the month from. If you include the preseason games, which should be included because neither KickOff nor Ballantines are official PSL affiliates, then Modise and Ace have been on the receiving end of proverbial assaults in tourneys like Mopani and Gauteng Challege...
