James Okwuosa returns to aid Rangers' battle to the death

James Okwuosa returns to aid Rangers' battle to the death, as the race for the Nigeria Premier League crown goes down to the wire.

Despite having signed a three year-deal with South African side Ajax Cape Town, the Rangers captain was seen training with his team-mates at their Nkpokiti camp in Enugu, in preparation for their rescheduled Week 36 game of the Nigeria Premier League against Sunshine Stars, now happening on Wednesday, which was postponed as a result of the latter's participation in the CAF Champions League.

James had gone Awol on trials in South Africa where he distinguished himself in a pre-season friendly game against Manchester United, and was thus unavailable for selection in his teams' 1-0 loss to Shooting Stars of Ibadan last weekend, which saw the former league leaders relinquish their hold at the top and dropping to the third spot behind Kano Pillars, and surprise contenders Lobi Stars.

Rangers can however reclaim topspot if they beat Sunshine by up to a two-goal margin on wednesday next week.

Insiders at the Rangers camp have further revealed that Okwuosa will continue to act as captain of the club for the remainder of the season, as the initial ban imposed on the player has been temporarily lifted, in order to avoid destabilizing the team as they bid to make their final push to claim the league title they last won nearly three decades ago.

This is unbelievable! You went AWOL, disunited the team in the process, signed a three year contract with another club, returned home to a "go and sin no more" welcome. This can only happen in Naija. What a league!
