Aluko: Bruce reason for joining Hull

Sone Aluko says Steve Bruce is the reason why he joined Hull City

Sone Aluko left demoted Glasgow Rangers to join Championship side Hull City last week and the Nigerian international has revealed that Hull City’s manager, Steve Bruce as the main incentive and the club’s ambition to be promoted to the Premiership.

Aluko had previously played under Bruce at Birmingham City.

"When you've got a manager like Steve [Bruce] interested, you have to listen," Aluko told theBBC.

"He obviously already knew me from my time with Birmingham and he has retained a lot of the staff from his Birmingham days so hopefully that will help me settle down quickly.

"He spoke about how he wants the team to play and the way he wants me to play and I liked what I heard.

"To be honest, his ambition to take Hull into Premiership quickly was the biggest draw for me," added Aluko

"The main reason for moving here was their ambition to move into the Premiership and take the club forward quickly.

"I had a very positive meeting and calls with the manager and another meeting with the owner and they spoke about the desire to move into the Premiership - you can also see it with the players they have signed.

"Also from a football point of view it was important for me to hear I'll be an integral part of the team, and how Bruce saw me being used fit the role I was looking for, too.

"My immediate target is to really continue the good form I finished with last season and continue to score and create goals for the team in the push for promotion."

I just saw a disgraceful loss of the Nigerian basketball team to the US. It is not the loss in itself that is disgarceful but how they lost. If these players and coach have any ounce of self respect not to mention national pride they would have at all cost avoid being made part of history that is negative. Unfortunately they are now part of the Olympic history which is not flatering as the most scored upon team in the history of the game. The coach and the players share blame in this shameful display. The coach has no strategy, there is no doubt US will win judging by their pedigree but the coaches startegy would have been to minimize the margin. A good or patriotic coach will make sure his players take as much time on the clock on offense therefore limiting the time the Americans will have to score. Obviously there was no defense as the Americans scored at will and most cases with only a few seconds of the clock.
I saw the Nigerians jerking shots a few seconds into the clock.
Any coach in any sport who knows his team is going to lose will make sure they dont make it easy for the oponent. The Americans saw their chance to make olympic history and took it but the Africans didnt even realise.
