Mugeyi: Billiat must not rush overseas

Ajax Cape Town assistant coach Wilfred Mugeyi is urging midfielder Khama Billiat not to rush overseas

Ajax Cape Town assistant coach Wilfred Mugeyi is urging midfielder Khama Billiat to keep his feet to the ground after reportedly attracting interest from clubs based in England, Spain, Netherlands and Belgium.

The 21-year-old Urban Warriors midfielder was in impressive form during his side's 1–1 draw against English giants Manchester United recently, winning the praise of manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Billiat's business manager – Edzai Kasinauyo – did not reveal the club's that are after Billiat while pointing out that the players "needs to leave for Europe while still young before his sell by date expires."

However, Mugeyi – a former Zimbabwe national team striker – advises Billiat against rushing into European football prematurely.

Mugeyi says Billiat should spend at least another season in South Africa in order to polish up some aspects of his game.

"He is a key factor in the team with great technical ability. He is quick, aggressive and very confident on the ball. He has a good eye for goal and can play in any attacking position," says Mugeyi.

"But in my opinion, he still needs another year or two in the Premier Soccer League to gain more experience before he goes to Europe. Sending the boy to Europe now will destroy him since he still has to work on his game."

Let the boy go now. The earlier the better. He is still able to learn and adapt quickly coz he is still young.
