The 26-year-old former Ajax Cape Town and Moroka Swallows midfielder spent the last six months of the 2011/12 season with the Chilli Boys and helped them win promotion to the top-flight. He has been doing pre-season with Chippa, and is hopeful a deal will be concluded soon.
“We are still in talks, still negotiating,” he tells KickOff.com. “Nothing has been finalised yet, but I’m confident everything will be sorted soon.”
Shumana says pre-season has been going well and that the players can’t wait for the club’s debut season in the top-flight.
“Everyone is very excited – we just can’t wait to start and to see where we stand,” he says. “It’s going to be an experience for the new guys because most of them have not played in the top-flight, but the confidence is there and the team is in good spirit, so hopefully we can get maximum points as often as possible.
“At the moment we haven’t really sat down and planned ahead on what needs to be done and what it is we want to achieve because the coach still has a few players he is trying to get, but personally I think we need to make sure we survive the first season and then we can build from there.”
Chippa open their 2012/13 League campaign with a baptism of fire – an away trip to face Mamelodi Sundowns.
