Sponsors keep PSL waiting

Absa, MTN, Telkom, Nedbank, sponsors keep PSL waiting

Posted: 30 July 2012 Time: 01:53 pm

The Top 8 Cup is reportedly to be launched tomorrow morning, but the PSL's sponsorship negotiations have not gone smoothly.

In the latest issue of KICK OFF magazine – out now! – we reveal how the PSL had hoped that sponsorship negotiations for its four key properties would have been completed in May.

Don't miss: Top 8 Cup fixtures leaked

There is still confidence that the deals will all be done, even if the new season will start without the requisite signatures, but the longer the delay, the more the level of embarrassment to PSL chairman Irvin Khoza, who has taken personal charge of the negotiations.

It seems MTN will renew their sponsorship of the Top 8 Cup, as according to the PSL on Twitter the launch will be held tomorrow at the MTN headquarters.

I agree with you man, how can a chairman of the club in the PSL be the chairman of the PSL without thinking about clash of interest in between the roles? As transparent, objective and as professional the Iron Duke may be, it still does not make sense... only in SA can such a thing be justified! PSL needs a neutral chairman without any known affilaitions to founding members and participating teams- the other CEOs and owners of clubs can be members of the board...

If it's wasn't up to the Iron Duke, our league wasn't gonna be in the state that it's in. We have one of the richest leagues in the world. So if you put your hated of the Duke in this, that means you don't want to see our league improving even more. The Duke is a professional and doesn't have the problem with conflict of interest!!!

Maybe the fella with light complexion from Mamelodi must take over. Sure that will make you happy. For your info, Motsepe failed to unite a stokvel called Business Unity South Africa. He cannot even run his spaza called Sundowns.

Education is not about degrees but knowledge Mabhakabhaka, the Zebras are not clued about the setup at PSL, the winning combination is about the club chairmen, Kaizer Motaung (headin Finance) included, if the Colonel fails it means Motaung (Family Business Owner) has failed in the negotiations too. In Maths (pudorn the Zebra Force guys have no clue, I mean mathematics) if x=y & y=z then y=z but then it doeas not apply in soccer, you play in the field & win not play in the media. We cannot blame them, they are obssessed with having beautiful light skinned men as players and fans, instead of handsome men (makes you think who dominates those Zebra Force fans).

People here are very naive seriosly.

1.Your team is earning that million(about to be increased) a month because of ze Duke.
2.The league is run more professionally than all the leagues in Africa because of ze Duke.
3.Sponsors come flocking tryna struck a deal with the PSL because of ze Duke.
4.I can go on and on and on but you'll never be convinced 'cos you dont want to admit ze truth.

If it wasnt for that selfless man who compromised his team's success to make this a better league for all, our league was still gonna be way behind that of:
1.Egypt
2.Nigeria
3.Ivory coast
4.Angola

Now our league is amoungst the best in ze worl. Take heed and give credit where it is due, you wont lose even one piece of your hair I promise.
