There is the potential for a meeting between two of Mzansi's stars when Bongani Khumalo's Greek side PAOK meet Israeli outfit Bnei Yehuda, at the moment still the home of forward Dino Ndlovu.
Ndlovu is on the verge of a move to Maccabi Haifa next week, but should that deal break down will line-up against Khumalo.
Ndlovu played for Bnei Yehuda on Thursday as they defeated Armenian side Shirak 1-0 to claim a 3-0 aggregate victory in their second round tie.
Anele Ngcongca looks almost certain to remain at Genk for another season and his team enter the Europe League in the third round with a tie against Kazakhstan's FC Aktobe, what should be a formality.
Ngcongca played with his Belgian club in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League last season, including starring as they held eventual winners Chelsea to a home draw.
Portuguese side Maritimo, which features a trio of South Africans in Sergio Marakis, Miguel Rodrigues and Brad Wexler, will play Greek side Asteras Tripolis.
None of the three have managed to break into the first-team yet, but the Europe League is often a competition where coaches will experiment with their line-up and so they may be given a chance.
