FC Cape Town owner Errol Dicks deny Maties deal

FC Cape Town boss Errol Dicks has shot down reports that they could be selling their First Division franchise to the University of Stellenbosch.

KickOff.com has been told that Maties were keen to ‘do a University of Pretoria’ and make their mark on local football, with figures around the R3-4million region bandied about.

This will see FC Cape Town relocate to Stellenbosch to make use of the university’s world-class facilities, but Dicks insists this is not the case.

“You know, every year this time we have all these stories of franchises being for sale,” he tells KickOff.com.

“I must have had about 15 people phoning me in the last while to see whether we are prepared to sell. I will say what I’ve always said: ‘If the price is right, we can talk.’ But it’s not as if we are going around offering the club to buyers.”
