Reuben to train with Genk

Nigeria and Kano Pillars midfielder Reuben Gabriel to train with Genk.

Super Eagles and Kano Pillars midfielder Reuben Gabriel will travel to Belgium to train with Genk with a view to signing a contract.

Goal.com learnt that the player will miss the quarter finals of the Federation Cup that will be played on Monday next week if Kano Pillars qualify after the last group game against El-Kanemi on Friday.

The former Enyimba player has postponed the trip for a number of times, but has decided to go and honour the invitation before the Super Eagles reconvene for the final 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia in September and October.

Kano Pillars coach Baba Ganaru confirmed to Goal.com that after the game against El-Kanemi, his prized midfielder will travel to Belgium.

"He will not be available for the quarter final match on Monday because he will be travelling to train with a club in Europe.

"Reuben has been one of the outstanding players in the Nigeria Premier League this season and I am sure he will get to sign a good contract.

"We will miss him in majority of our matches, but we are going to adjust to life without him because we cannot stop him," Ganaru said.

Reuben scored Nigeria's goal in the 1-1 draw against Malawi in the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil qualification match in Blantyre in June. He was also voted man of the match in the Super Eagles' 2-0 defeat of Rwanda in the Afcon qualifier later that month.

Kano Pillars are second on the log in the Nigeria Premier League with 55 points.

Does this mean Genk is no longer interested in Masalesa?

Since Mr Gabriel Reuben has decided to take his game to Belgium, does that mean Keshi will not invite him again. Will he now be deemed uncommitted as the coaches and press label most of our Euro based players?

Reuben, I love your all action game. You are the reason we have not heard the clamor for the return of Sani Kaita from his sentimental fans.

Where did Keshi play most of his career? Belgium. Where is Reuben headed? Belgium. Do I think Keshi (the suspected manager/players agent) has anything to do with this, I no know ooo

This is getting so disturbing with the exception of mikel obi and victor moses who can't make up his stupid mind about chelsea or arsenal and wiga which i must say it is becoming increasingly likely that he might stay at lowley wigan for another season. nigerian football is screwed we have no players playing in big clubs in europe which used to be the case in those dayz with the likes of wes(AC Milan), kanu(Arsenal), Oliseh(Dortmund),ikpeba(Barcelona)Tijani babangida(Ajax, Amsterdam), Kanu before arsenal and finidi george(Ajax Amsterdam, when the team was still great). Now look at the names of teams our players are playing for Genk, kyev, sheffield. some in switzerland. with all due respect the standard of quality of our players has dipped immensily if thy are not warming the bench then they are playing in an unknown team.nigeria needs some big talents soon because all our west african counter parts are surpassing us at very quick pace. in all honesty if games could be won on paper then nigeria does not stand a chance against the likes of senegal, ghana, ivory coast, mali and so on. if you ask me if we meet Zambia now they will Destroy us. Our players really need to pull up our socks otherwise Super eagles will really be a thing of the past.

Keshi is just wasting his time with this rebuilding thing. Use the best material we have regardless of where they play...come on you cannot tell me that the kalu uche who plays for eyimba is better than brown ideye.
I only support a standing home based team for the purpose of the CHAN tournaments
You must also note that the best legs will continue to go to europe, especially, the low incentives of remaining home-based
