Brent Carelse says he is eager to test himself against Paul Scholes when Ajax Cape Town take on Manchester United on the weekend.

Ajax will take on United in the MTN Football International on Saturday at a sold-out Cape Town Stadium.

"As you know this is the second time that I will play against opposition from Europe," Carelse tells Ajax Cape Town's official website. "When I was at [Mamelodi] Sundowns we played against Barcelona, now I am getting a chance to test myself against Manchester United.

"They are one of the giants of Europe and their reputation speaks for itself."

Carelse says Ajax's pre-season has prepared them well for the match.

"Our preparations for this game went very well; the Sports Science Centre in Stellenbosch is an ideal location to host a pre-season camp," he says. "The facilities there are outstanding and we were able to get quite a lot of work done."

But the 31-year-old says the Urban Warriors are not star-struck, although he admits he is keen to see how they match up against the English Premier League team.

"All the players are excited to play this game, not only because its Manchester United but because we know that we will be playing in front of more than 40 000 Capetonians," the midfielder says.

"We are looking forward to testing our skills against the Red Devils; we want to do our city and country proud.

"For myself, I am eager to test myself against a player like Paul Scholes. He is a great player and even though I am not a United fan, I do admire the way he plays the game.

"It will be interesting to see who starts the game for them and there will be a number of one-on-one battles that will give the game an extra edge. I would also like to see who plays opposite Matthew Booth and Rio Ferdinand; they are key players for their respective teams because they play important roles in their team's game-plan."

Meanwhile, Cape Town Stadium will we open to fans on Friday and Saturday for the DHL Fan Zone.

The arena will be open to fans on
