Neil Tovey insists his departure from Thanda Royal Zulu had nothing to do with the team failing to qualify for the Premier League.
KickOff.com reported this morning that the former Bafana Bafana captain had left the First Division club, with Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane taking over the reins.
Tovey guided Thanda to the promotion play-offs, but Chippa United eventually won through.
However, Tovey insists that was not the reason behind hin leaving.
“It’s not true that I left the club because I failed to help them qualify for the Premier League,” he says. “I left the club because we did not agree on terms because the club has decided to cut the budget for the new season.”
