'Mbazo' returns home with a wealth of experience after 13 years in Europe, but the fact is he starred in just over 10 PSL matches for Jomo Cosmos before leaving for Ajax Amsterdam in the late 1990s. Mokoena is certainly not in two minds that he will face a mammoth task making an impact on the local scene.
"It is going to be a challenge playing in the PSL because it is basically a new environment for me, but then again I have been through challenges before so it won't be a new thing for me," he says.
"Nothing comes easy, but I decided to come home and all I want is to enjoy my football. We know the PSL is massive, but for me I'm looking forward to the difficult task of playing here," he continues.
Meanwhile, Mokoena further says he is keen on playing international football again.
The 31-year-old was axed from the Bafana Bafana team by Pitso Mosimane, and in the process he lost the national team armband.
Mokoena has reiterated his stance that he wants to add to his 107 international caps.
"I always said I didn't retire from the national team I will welcome whatever comes my way with open hands," he states.
"But for me coming back is all about enjoying my football at home. I love representing my country, but Wits is where my heart is at the moment and the rest will follow," Mokoena adds.
