The Bafana Bafana centre-back was unveiled at the club on Friday night following his season-long loan from English Premiership Tottenham Hotspur.
But he was thrown into the thick of it in Tuesday’s friendly, coming through the game unscathed and with game-time under his belt.
Khumalo will get another chance to gain more match fitness when PAOK host Belgian top-flight side Mons in another friendly on Saturday.
The 25-year-old had earlier spoken of his delight at signing for the Greek club, who finished fourth in the championship play-offs last season.
"I am very happy to be here," Khumalo told reporters. "I know that I have come to a club with thousands of fans. I want to help the team to reach their targets.
"I was on holidays when I received the call from my agent who told me about PAOK and other Greek clubs who showed interest. Panathinaikos also wanted to sign me in the past.
"I chose PAOK because I believe that we can do something really good next season. I saw them playing last year against Tottenham and I knew that they are a club with ambitions in the European competitions."
