Leopards, who went down 3-2 to Sudanese side Al-Merreikh in the first leg, need a 1-0 victory in the second leg of the tie to progress beyond the play-off round of the continental competition.
With Orlando Pirates long out of this year's CAF Champions League after failing to progress beyond the first hurdle, Leopards are the only South African club still competing and will be carrying the hopes of an expectant nation when they take on the Sudanese giants on home soil in the decisive match this weekend.
Monama, who has played a key role in Lidoda Duvha's successful run in Africa this year, tells KickOff.com they will be well aware of what to expect from their North African opponents.
"We are confident of going past them in the second leg," he says. "I don’t think they will pose much of a threat because we now know how they play. They are not as physical as the Nigerians and they play a brand of football quite similar to our own.
“We will frustrate them by exploiting some of the weaknesses we noticed in the first match. They have their flaws and this is why they conceded two goals. Home advantage will work in our favour.”
Considered one of the oldest professional football clubs on the continent, Al-Merreikh have a rich footballing history dating back to 1908. They have won the second most Sudanese Premier League titles (18) – the last coming in 2011 – which is eight less than bitter rivals Al-Hilal.
Monama calls upon local fans to rally behind Lidoda Duvha during their match against the North African outfit.
"We are on the verge of history. Supporters should turn out in their large numbers because we are representing the country. They will not be disappointed.”
