The 31-year-old Mhlongo recently signed a two year contract with Dikwena – a move that will see him enjoying more game time.
In a chat with KickOff.com during a Platinum Stars Media Day in Phokeng, the versatile player says his move to Dikwena was influenced by a strong desire for new challenges.
"My role at this club will be to advise the younger players if they need any help because I have been playing football for a while now," says Mhlongo.
"I am also eager to show some people who were writing me off that I am now back. But I will not talk about what I want to achieve because my legs will do all the talking once we start the season," adds Mhlongo.
The former Bucs player is eager to follow in the footsteps of Patrick Malokase, who breathed life into his football career last season through some impressive performances for Dikwena.
"I want a new challenge. Sometimes, if you stay at one club for a long time, you will create a comfort zone and you will not strive to achieve more.
"If you look at Patrick [Malokase], he was able to turn around his situation by moving to Platinum Stars from Pirates. It is all about hard work and staying focused. This is what we would like to teach the youngsters," Mhlongo says.
