Hunt not interested in Wits job

Gavin Hunt not keen to replace Roger de Sa at Bidvest Wits

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has distanced himself from the vacant Bidvest Wits job following Roger de Sa’s dismissal.

De Sa left the Students this afternoon by mutual consent, though talk of the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper’s bad press in recent weeks being the reason have also been doing the rounds.

Hunt has been touted as a potential replacement to reunite with new Wits CEO Jose Ferreira, and KickOff.com has caught wind of informal discussions between the two parties a few months ago, but the Matsatsantsa coach insists it won’t happen now.

“I am not going anywhere,” he tells KickOff.com. “I am still contracted to SuperSport United and have not been contacted by Wits.”

Former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane and ex-Orlando Pirates mentor Ruud Krol have been tipped as early favourites to replace De Sa, while KickOff.com has also learnt that former Sundowns coach Antonio Habas could be in their sights.
