Rantie still in limbo

Tokelo Rantie still in the Free State unsure of his future

Tokelo Rantie is still at home in the Free State awaiting his next move in football.

The 21-year-old striker spent last season on loan at Orlando Pirates from Swedish club IFK Hassleholm, and impressed enough to earn himself a Bafana Bafana call-up.

This form attracted interest from a number of European clubs, while a swap deal involving Kermit Erasmus to SuperSport United has also been mooted, but Rantie’s mentor, Farouk Khan, says no decision has been made yet.

“Tokelo is still at home in the Free State,” Khan tells KickOff.com. “He is still contracted to his club in Sweden, who will ultimately decide his future.”

He adds: “There are a few clubs interested in his services, obviously including Orlando Pirates. Personally I would love to see him playing for Pirates after his good performances there last season.”
