Santos were handed their fate by Chippa United on Saturday afternoon when they lost 4-3 at Philippi Stadium.
"We tried to win today but that never came up. We let ourselves down throughout the season but we cannot point fingers," Rodgers stated after the match.
"Things happen for a reason and we still have to give thanks to God."
The 27-year-old netted twice in the relegation battle which brought his season goal tally to 15 strikes and raises the question of his future at the club.
"I don't know what will happen next season," he added. "There have been clubs that are interested but like I have said I haven't sat down with someone to sign anything.
"All I hear is the talk of interest, but I am yet to meet anyone. We will see what happens."
