Chippa were on the attack early on and nearly scored in the fourth minute, but Santos goalkeeper Demba Touray parried the ball out for a corner.
However, they did take the lead in the tenth minute when they capitalised on some hesitation in the Santos backline. Mxolisi Ntshingila put in a superb cross from the right that eluded the defence and allowed Philani Dlamini to tap in.
A short while later and it was 2-0 – again the Santos defence was found wanting, with Touray parrying a cross which William Twala tapped home.
Being two goals down finally caused some reaction from Santos when Eleazar Rodgers pulled one back with a looping header. And five minutes before the break Tyren Arendse leveled matters, giving The People’s Team a foot in the door.
Santos continued to press forward, but it was Chippa who scored the crucial next goal – with Nasief Morris the main culprit. His backpass was short, allowing Twala to pick up the ball and chip the keeper.
And with nine minutes remaining the result was put beyond doubt as Mfundo Shumana jumped the offside trap to make the scoreline 4-2.
Santos got a late consolation goal through Eleazar Rodgers, but it was not enough as Santos ended their time in South Africa’s top-flight.
