Two Latvians to join Arrows

Latvians Pavels Steinbors and Ritus Krjauklis to join Golden Arrows

Golden Arrows have beefed up their depleted goalkeeping department with the acquisition of Latvian Pavels Steinbors, who will join the club along with fellow countryman and central defender Ritus Krjauklis.

Steinbors and Krjauklis, who are both from Latvia Virsliga (top league) club Liepajars Metalurgs, have already agreed to join Arrows and will arrive to complete the deals on July 15.

Delaying their arrival in the country is that their club will be playing in Europa League first round qualifiers against San Marino club La Fiorita over legs on July 5 and July 12.

Liepajars Metalurgs have qualified for the Europa League by virtue of having finished second last season.

Mario Atakligan of Sportic Players’ Agency confirms that the two Latvians will be merely coming down to complete their moves to Arrows.

“They are coming here to sign so the deals are just as good as done,” says Atakligan.

Arrows returned to pre-season with just one goalkeeper in Nkosingiphile Gumede following the release of three other goalies that they had in their books – Helton da Rocha, Andre Petim and Stephan Loboue.

The PSL recently had another Latvia import in Deniss Ivanovs, who played for Ajax Cape Town when Muhsin Ertugral was still in charge at the Urban Warriors.

Ivanovs also joined from the same Latvian club Metalurgs.
