Former youth international winger Bonginkosi Macala has confirmed that he has left Santos and is now back at home sorting out family matters.

Macala has not played a single game in the Promotion Play-offs, though his contract is only due to expire on Saturday.

"I have parted ways with Santos and I am already taking a break," Macala says.

"What happened is that before the PSL season actually ended I wrote them a letter stating my desire to leave the club. So at the moment I am just taking a break sorting out my family issues, which is why I am not even in Cape Town but up here in Gauteng.

"Though I don't know where I will be playing next I will not be playing for Santos."

Macala joins Gert Schalkwyk and Warren Bishop on the list of players that have left the Cape club, despite it still being involved in the Play-offs.

Schalkwyk has not trained with the club since leaving to attend to a family bereavement last month.
