Glasgow Rangers winger Sone Aluko made a fleeting appearance for the Super Eagles against Rwanda last Saturday in Calabar to earn his second cap for the national team in three years.

But the player whose sister Eniola plays for England’s national women’s team is determined to bide his time to become a regular for the team under Stephen Keshi.

“Naturally, I'm disappointed like every other player, but there is time for everything,” Aluko told the BBC.

"My time will come. I just need to keep working hard, playing well for my club and opportunities will come. When they come, I'll take it."

Aluko added that he was glad to have made the switch to the country of his parents.

"When I made the decision, I didn't think I would just walk into the Nigerian side.

"I chose Nigeria because my heart said I want to play for Nigeria and I know why I made the decision and it's still valid."
