'Van Persie too good for Italy'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Robin van Persie is not leaving for Serie A

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has dismissed the prospect of Robin van Persie leaving the club to play in Serie A.

The Dutch international's future at the Emirates is hanging in the air, with his current contract expiring next summer and talks on a new deal progressing at a slow pace.   Italian champions Juventus have been linked with a move for the striker, but Wenger laughed off the rumour, saying a move to Italy would mark a step down for the Arsenal skipper.   "In Italy there are big problems and your league is at a level lower than the Premier League. Serie A is at a low level now," he was quoted as saying by Corriere dello Sport.   "There is no reason at all why a great player like [Van Persie] should come and play with you, in Italy, in your league.   "Football players get paid better in England, you have not heard of the new television contracts?   "The Italian league was once extraordinary, and I remember well, when the league had 16 teams and each team had their own champion. Now it is not the case."   Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been linked with Van Persie, who was last season's top scorer in England with 37 goals in all competitions.

You are right Wenger, this goes to show that corruption and racist tendencies are an acid to development, not only in soccer, but in all aspects of life. No country in the world comes ahead of Italy in terms of culture- I mean not even the Greeks, the Egyptians or Persians came close to the rich culture of the Romans. But today, since their racist politics they have forfeited all that and their fottball is the latest thing to go down the drain. So why should Van Persie be associated with such a degrading culture?

Being english doesn't make 1 better wanger & his lousy team should know that. Whats arsenal to juventus? The old lady is way bigger than arsenal. The english shouldn't undermine the serie a, teams like inter, milan and juve r massive, only man u in england can even try to campare with these giants.when did england last won a world cup ? Besides cr7 who else won the best player in the world award? So now i challenge all those media controlled epl faithfools to tell me arsenal is bigger than juve

A degrading statement from a desperate underachieving manager of all time....Juventus are classed way ahead of Arsenal.....so belittling the Seri A like that won`t necessarily convince RVP to stay with a team that plays for fun season in and season out...@least Juventus can guarantee him trophies to celebrate.
