Nontshinga admits he must deliver

New Bloemfontein Celtic striker Siyabonga Nontshinga under pressure to deliver

Posted: 21 June 2012 Time: 07:25 am

New Phunya Sele Sele striker Siyabonga Nontshinga has promised that playing in the colours of Bloemfontein Celtic will enable him to live up to the promise he showed in his debut Premier League season at Jomo Cosmos.

Nontshinga secured a three-year deal with Celtic after joining from relegated side Jomo Cosmos and found himself in Pitso Mosimane's national squad, which did not go down well with the ex-coach's critics.   The striker only managed to find the back of the net three times in 22 league starts last season and hopes to make amends for that poor return with Celtic in the 2012/13 campaign.   "The time has come for me to deliver," Nontshinga tells kickoff.com.   "I seriously want to prove myself here at Celtic. I have been given a second chance to play in the elite league after my former side Cosmos got relegated.   "Last season was my first season in the PSL and it was a learning curve, but I have adapted to the standard and picked up experience," said the 25-year-old before touching on his new surroundings.   "It feels so wonderful to be here in Bloemfontein. I only arrived yesterday (Monday) and I have not had a chance to see my teammates, but I am looking forward to this new challenge."   Nontshinga will be one of several new players at Celtic when the club resumes training on Wednesday.   Punya Sele Sele have brought in John Arwuah from SuperSport United and taken Auguston Leonard permanently from Moroka Swallows, but have parted ways with reputable players like Moses Spandeel, Thokozani Mshengu, Clifford Mulenga and Papi Zothwane.
