PSL heads get rich

PSL chairman Khoza revealed this to Metro FM on Tuesday afternoon.

However, according to the Board of Governors, who sat to discuss the issue, the pay-out is a token of gratitude and not commission for the members’ involvement in the deals.

Also, former PSL CEO Trevor Phillips and Marketing head Peter Mancer are not assured their share of the R70-million. Instead, a three-man panel consisting of Jomo Sono, Jabu Khumalo and Jose Ferreira will decide whether the duo should be among those who qualify for a share of the pay-out.

In August, when the TV rights deal with SuperSport was secured, Phillips, Mancer, Khoza, Kaizer Motaung and Mato Madlala were in line to receive R30-million each as commission for their roles in securing the deal.

However, Finance Minister Trevor Manuel questioned the pay-out and when the PSL secured the R500-million Absa deal, Manuel received assurance that no commission would be paid to the PSL executives involved.
